Even in this heat, I can’t just sit around doing nothing. So, on to the next project.
If there’s a BMW, there’s got to be a Mercedes, too. We don’t want to leave anyone out.
So this time, it’s the free bonus from TDW due toThe MB 320 has light and shadow. The dimensions are roughly correct. But the mold quality is slightly worse than on the BMW. More on that later, though. The biggest mistake is the rear end. The designers took the easy way out and simply transferred the rear end of the BMW to the MB. But the MB doesn’t have a spare tire well at the rear at all. There should be a trunk compartment there for three flat suitcases stacked on top of each other. long delivery times. I’d asked my younger son to order a few things for me for my birthday: an unusual fog lamp, a BMW 326 (which you’ve already seen), and a rare BMW 327.
As I mentioned before, there were some issues with the shipping from TDW. They sent the items to the main post office in Cologne twice. It didn’t work out until the third try.
As a bonus, I received a Mercedes 320. This is now the star of my article.
There were four convertible versions of the 320. I received a B version. OK. The part on the rear end of the 320 seems a bit too big to me. And, of course, due to a mistake, there are only five nice wheels. But I need six, since the two rearview mirrors are mounted on the spare wheels. That was the negative part, which I have to put into perspective a bit. It was the military version with a note. I’m building the civilian version again. So all the flaws have been fixed,
except for the rear section. If I had cut away the spare tire well, a hollow space would have opened up there. Since printed parts are difficult to glue, I left the rear section as is and didn’t modify it.
There were printer marks on the rear sides and on the front fender wheel arches. It looked like a drop falling into a glass of water. You can see it in some of the pictures.
The positives about the model: Very nice details, great detail in the interior. Three different steering wheels. Duplicate number plates. A very true-to-original interior.
I drew quite a bit of inspiration from Oldtimer magazine as reference material. As a comparison, I dug out the Skytrex MB 320 from the basement—I’ve had it for at least 15 years now, and you can really see the differences.
